Take The Stress Out Of Leaving your kids with a babysitter

When it comes to hiring a babysitter, it's important to ensure that your child is in good hands. One way to help your babysitter be successful is by providing them with everything they need to care for your child. Here are some things I appreciated as a nanny and babysitter.

Keep a journal log of all this so you don't have to repeat if you get a new babysitter.

  1. Contact Information: Make sure your babysitter has all necessary contact information, including your phone number, address, and emergency contact information. This will help them to reach you quickly in case of an emergency.

  2. Important Instructions: Be sure to provide your babysitter with any important instructions regarding your child's routine, diet, allergies, medications and other important information they should be aware of.

  3. If your child is drinking breast milk leave instructions on how to warm it and keep a feeding log.have your babysitter also write down when they fed the baby and how much they drank.

  4. Snacks and Drinks: It's always a good idea to leave some snacks and drinks for your babysitter to give to your child during their time together. This can help keep your child happy and healthy, and can also help your babysitter avoid any potential hunger-related meltdowns.

  5. Entertainment: If you are leaving your child/children with the babysitter somewhere that is not your house leave some age-appropriate toys, books, or other activities for your babysitter to use to keep your child entertained. This can help your child have fun and enjoy their time with the babysitter. If there are specific instructions for the tv make sure to either walk your babysitter through them or write them down.

  6. Leave clear instruction as to where your babysitter is allowed to take the children. If you do not want your babysitter to drive the kids anywhere, tell them they can go anywhere within walking distance, or only specific places.

  7. First Aid Kit: Make sure your babysitter knows where to find the first aid kit and any necessary supplies, such as band-aids or medications.

  8. Bedtime Supplies: If your child needs a bedtime routine, leave everything your babysitter needs to help them get ready for bed, such as pajamas, a toothbrush, and a favorite stuffed animal. If you can, for safety reasons it is smart to bathe children before you leave.

  9. Leave wifi information for once the kids go to bed.

By providing your babysitter with everything they need, you can help ensure that your child is well-cared for and that your babysitter has a positive and successful experience. And remember, always communicate openly with your babysitter about any concerns or expectations you may have.
